Claire Wakelin
Claire is an architect who specialises in the design of educational facilities, having worked on a diverse portfolio of projects for all levels of education from early years through to schools and higher education institutions.
She joined the HLM board in 2023 and has extensive experience of leading teams in providing outstanding designs has included working direct to trusts and universities, with central government bodies, local authorities, major contractors and developers, as well as acting as client-side in technical advisory roles.
Claire’s creative approach to designing new buildings, masterplanning and repurposing existing facilities, delivers award winning design solutions through a collaborative process to meet our client’s vision and budget that are responsive to their site and context.
Her focus is on developing and delivering innovative solutions and her open and lateral thinking adds significant value to our HLM portfolio of projects, most recently at Addington School in Reading, winner of Education project of the Year at the Offsite awards and the new London Institute for Healthcare Engineering for King’s College London, recently shortlisted for Project of the Year by Building Awards.
