Michael Curran

Michael Curran is Head of Building Services, Energy and Utilities at University of Galway. A graduate of The University of Liverpool, Michael has over 25 years of expertise in design and facility management in both private and public sector as a Chartered Building Services Engineer, Micheal worked as consultant building services engineer before taking up his current role in University of Galway.

Michael leads the decarbonisation of the University of Galway who have successfully achieved 50% reduction in energy usage on the campus by deploying new renewable and solar projects, the energy team have won SEAI Energy team 2019 and SEAI Energy in Buildings 2023.

Michael is Immediate Past Chair of CIBSE Ireland and is a Chartered Engineer with CIBSE and Engineers Ireland.

Michael has gained valuable knowledge of Sustainability, Leadership, Communications and Mentoring.
